Much has been said about EU migration to the UK.  Being the fifth largest economy in the world, enjoying stable prices, low interest rates and high levels of employment makes it is easy to understand why Britain is seen as a great place to live and work.

Everyone agrees that entrepreneurs are the life blood of a strong and growing economy.  In 2015, 600,000 new firms were registered at Companies House – a record high.

At BankSearch we have done some digging into the numbers to see the mix of people that are starting up.  We find that around one in eight new company registrations have at least one Director or Company Secretary that are EU nationals.

What is striking is that the number of EU nationals starting their own business as a proportion of the total has grown each year since our monitoring began in 2012.

Our research suggests that EU entrepreneurs are an increasingly important group building our green shoots.
