1.1% more businesses started up in Leicester during the first four months of this year compared with the corresponding period of last year, according to latest data from a BankSearch survey.
In April 2011 the average number of start-ups per English district was 123. The median level of starts was 93 and the minimum and maximum number of starts across the districts was 9 and 670 respectively.
In Leicester 242 new businesses started up in April 2011, 39 fewer than the previous month.
