BankSearch created and now maintain the Regulated Mortgage Survey for the benefit of the Council of Mortgage Lenders and their members. The RMS is hugely successful with around 97% of all regulated mortgages completed in the UK being gathered. It is the most comprehensive and timely mortgage completions database in the UK.


Data Availability

Since 2005 banks and building societies have been providing the Financial Services Authority and CML / BankSearch with detailed information about their regulated mortgage lending business.


Why is the data important?

The Department of Communities and Local Government use the data to compile the UK House Price Index and it is also factored into the Retail Price Index by National Statistics.
