Buy-to-let mortgages have been on offer in the UK since the late nineties; they are specifically designed for investors to borrow money to purchase property in the private rented sector in order to let it out to tenants. BankSearch collects buy-to-let data from banks and building societies. The buy-to-let data gathering exercise is valuable because, amongst other things, the Financial Services Authority currently does not regulate this part of the mortgage market. The exercise is useful because it provides a very large number of 'dimensions' which facilitates data mining and greater understanding of the dynamics of the market. Using our business intelligence tool firms can drill into the data by the various dimensions.
One feature to help firms prepare their data for upload is our CSV to XML converter. Firms extract the data from their computer systems and use the converter to format the information.
